Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Institute of Creative Growth and where is it located?

The Institute of Creative Growth is the parent company of Art Therapy with Poppy and Marketing Mindfulness™ (www.marketingmindfulness.com); it is any place where we come together to co-create with the purpose of identifying, recognizing, and capitalizing upon your creative themes, and implementing them into the world.  Whether you are an art therapy client or a marketing client whom I coach, we showcase the best of you.

Who are some of the clients with whom you work?

Clients range in age from 4 to 94.  The common denominator in all of the age groups is that each individual has his or her own universal signature strengths.  I am the only Registered Art Therapist in the Greater Sarasota area who specializes in art therapy with Alzheimer clients and the elderly.

What is special about your training and education that qualifies you as an Art Therapy Coach, a Creative Age Coach, and a Marketing Coach?

I’m so glad you asked!  My 10 years of nationally accredited schooling and clinical art therapy training, coupled with 18 years of credentialed education as a professional marketing expert, provide me with a number of skill sets.  One of my most developed strengths is one of my five signature strengths: exceptional observational skills.

In the past 25+ years of my education and training, I have developed and honed my ability to observe - from multiple vantage points– the non-verbal queues and nuances from my client.  Whether it is in the imagery that the client creates or in his/her body language, we are always able to extract meaningful insights from the experience.

Poppy has facilitated Art Therapy sessions with individual clients and group workshops in multiple states throughout the country.

Combining the fundamentals of Art Therapy principles, positive psychology approaches, and marketing facilitation with strong interpersonal skills, Poppy has guided thousands of clients to recognize, access, and trust their own inherent creativity and strengths.

Since her move to Florida almost 6 years ago, Poppy’s art therapeutic interventions have brought tremendous results to her clients who have Dementia and Alzheimers.  Her training and specialization with the aging population has provided relief to both the client and their caregiver.

Poppy has utilized Art Therapy to work with children/students who have unique learning styles and who demonstrate non-conforming behavior.  With the Art Therapy facilitation that is personally adapted for each student, those students have experienced more academic success because of their art making.

With adults, Poppy has witnessed countless successes with people who were prone to depression, everyday stress, and other mental health issues. Through their use of art making and art therapy facilitation, her clients were able to extract meaningful insights which were revealed through their images.  For most, more traditional forms of therapy, such as verbal therapy, have not been as effective.

Art Therapy is for all who seek personal wellness, life enhancement, and a sense of play.  If you have never painted, sculpted, nor drawn, or feel limited by a lack of technical skills, then you are an ideal recipient for an Art Therapy workshop or session.

One of the most important tenets of my classes and workshops is for the suspension of all judgment. That is why my trademark brand states: “The artist is inherent in you.™”
