Poppy has facilitated Art Therapy sessions with individual clients and group workshops in multiple states throughout the country. Combining the fundamentals of Art Therapy principles, approaches, and professional facilitation with strong interpersonal skills, Poppy has guided thousands of elderly clients to recognize, access, and trust their own inherent, creative process.
Poppy has been a practicing Registered Art Therapist for the past 7 years. During this time, she has seen significant growth and understanding of the field and its value, especially to those in the aging population, wherein lies her advanced training and specialty as a coach and Registered Art Therapist. While the aging population of our country is growing at an alarming rate - Sarasota County is the oldest in years county on the nation - and is the fastest growing segment of our population, Art Therapy is not nearly as well understood as it could be.
With adults, Poppy has witnessed countless successes with elderly people who were prone
to dimentia, depression, everyday stress, and other mental health issues. Through their
use of art making and art therapy facilitation, her clients were able to extract
meaningful insights which were revealed through their images.
One of the most important tenets of Poppy's classes and workshops is for the
suspension of all judgment. That is why her mantra states: “The artist is
inherent in each one of us.”
